Paper Jams and Paper feed problem:

  1. Pull open the Input tray completely away from the Printer
  2. Check for jammed papers in the input tray area and clear it away
  3. Pull open the Input tray2 completely away from the Printer
  4. Check for jammed papers in the input tray2 area and clear it away
  5. Replace both of the input trays back to the Printer

To clear away paper jam from print zone:

  1. Switch Off your Printer using the Power button
  2. Slide to open the cartridge access door from the front of the Printer
  3. Ensure you move the Print Carriage to the far right and remove the jammed paper
  4. If required, move the Print Carriage to the far left and remove the jammed paper
  5. Slide down to Close the cartridge access door
  6. To turn on the Printer press the Power button ON

To clear away paper jam from the Output Tray:

  1. Slide to open the cartridge access door from the front of the Printer
  2. Lift and Pull the Inside Cover in a Clockwise manner to Open it
  3. Remove any jammed paper or torn pieces of paper from Output Tray
  4. Push down to close the Inside Cover, until it firmly fits
  5. Slide Down to close the cartridge access door to the Printer
  6. Pull to remove the input tray1 completely
  7. Pull the duplex tray from its center away from Printer
  8. Press the middle part of the Inner Door to pull open it
  9. Remove any jammed paper or torn pieces of paper from Duplex Tray
  10. Push Up to close the Inner Door
  11. Push Up the Center of the Duplex Tray towards Printer to close it
  12. Replace the Input Tray 1 back to it place

To clear away paper jam from the rear of the Printer:

  1. From the rear access door press the two tab to open the door
  2. Remove any torn or jammed papers
  3. Press both of the tabs on the Paper path cover to remove the cover
  4. Remove any torn or jammed papers
  5. Insert the Paper path cover
  6. Close the rear access door

To clear away paper jam from the document feeder:

  1. Lift to open the cover from the Document Feeder
  2. To Lift the document feeder tab, access from its lateral side
  3. Clear away the jammed paper out of the rollers
  4. Push the document feeder tab to its original position
  5. Close in the cover to the Document Feeder until it is fixed firmly

How to prevent Paper Jams

  1. Load the input Tray with a suitable number of sheets, avoid keeping large number of sheets at once
  2. Promptly take away the printed papers in order to neglect paper jamming
  3. While loading papers to the input Tray make sure that the papers are not cracked or bent condition
  4. Ensure the loaded papers lay flat in the input tray and the edges are not bent
  5. Always use same type of paper and do not use different paper types while loading the input Tray. i.e., heavily thick or too thin papers
  6. Ensure all of the feed papers in the input Tray are of standard size
  7. Using the paper-width guides in the input tray to feed the papers, eliminates the jams and misalignment during printing
  8. Use the paper length guides for keeping the paper intact in the input tray
  9. Always switch off the Printer before loading paper to input tray. Also avoid loading paper during printing process

Troubleshoot Printing Problem

To troubleshoot print issues in Windows OS:

Note: Ensure that you have loaded papers in the input tray and the Printer is turned ON

  1. Check the Control Panel for error message and Open the software application and follow the onscreen instructions to resolve specific issue
  2. If your Printer is wireless connected to Computer then check for the connectivity to resolve any issues
  3. If your Printer is USB Cable connected to Computer then unplug the USB cable and reestablish the connection to resolve any issues
  4. Ensure that the Printer is not offline or paused. According to the Windows OS follow the steps given below:
  • Windows 8.1 and Windows 8: Point the cursor to upper right corner of the screen to display the Charms bar. Click Settings icon and then Click Control Panel. Double-Click to open View devices and printers
  • Windows 7: Click on the Start button in your Desktop and Click Devices and Printers
  • Windows Vista: Click on the Start button in your Desktop, Click Control Panel and Click Printers
  • Windows XP: Click on the Start button in your Desktop and Click the Control Panel, and Click Printers and Faxes
  1. Open the Printer Icon or right click the printer icon to select See What’s Printing to open the Print Queue
  2. Click Printer Menu and deselect Pause Printing or Use Printer Offline option
  3. Right click the 123 HP Officejet Pro 6970 Printer Icon to set it as default printer
  4. Restart the print spooler. According to the Windows OS follow the steps given below:
  • Windows 8.1 and Windows 8: Point the cursor to upper right corner of the screen to display the Charms bar. Click Settings icon and Double Click Control Panel icon. Click System and Security and Open Administrative tools. Double Click Services and right click Print Spooler icon and select Properties. Locate the General tab and select Automatic. If the Print Spooler service is stopped then right click the icon to select Start, Click OK button
  • Windows 7: Click on the Start button in your Desktop and Click Control Panel, System and Security, and then Administrative Tools. Double Click Services and right click Print Spooler icon and select Properties. Locate the General tab and select Automatic.
  • Windows Vista: Click on the Start button in your Desktop, Click Control Panel, System and Maintenance, Administrative Tools. Double Click Services and right click Print Spooler service and select Properties. Locate the General tab and select Automatic.
  • Windows XP: Click on the Start button in your Desktop and Right Click My Computer. Click Manage and then Click Services and Applications. Double Click Services and right click Print Spooler service, Click Restart to restart from begin
  1. Restart your Computer
  2. If problems persist then clear the print queue. According to the Windows OS follow the steps given below:
  • Windows 8.1 and Windows 8: Point the cursor to upper right corner of the screen to display the Charms bar. Click Settings icon and then Click Control Panel. Double-Click to open View devices and printers
  • Windows 7: Click on the Start button in your Desktop and Click Devices and Printers
  • Windows Vista: Click on the Start button in your Desktop, Click Control Panel and Click Printers
  • Windows XP: Click on the Start button in your Desktop and Click the Control Panel, and Click Printers and Faxes
  1. Open the Control Panel window and double click Devices and Printers Icon
  2. Double click your Printer Name to open the print queue
  3. Use Printer menu and click Cancel all documents or Purge Print Document, and then Click Yes button
